Anyone here familiar with the HP DV6000 issues? The wireless card dying/laptop boot up problems?

I have an old DV6000 that has been dead for 2 months. It failed to boot up. What happens is all the lights turn on for about 15 seconds, screen is black, then then the lights off. This process is repeated over and over and it just never seems to go anywhere. It never gets to the HP Logo and so I can't get into bios or anything. I tried everything from replacing the adapter, batteries, etc. Nothing worked. HP told me it was a motherboard problem, I did a research and thousands of people have the same problems. It was going to cost $400 to replace the motherboard. I instead bought a new laptop.

Now about 2 months later, I tried booting the system up. Same thing happens. Every morning I would try booting it up, just for kicks. Then one day, to my surprise, it booted up! So I went and checked to see if my bios was up to date etc, and everything looked good. I shut the laptop down and rebooted it to see if it will boot up. Oddly enough it does. I did it about 4 times. So I said "Cool, seems to work again" and shut it down.

Next day, I tried turning it on again, and it didn't boot up. Great. So everyday I would try booting it up for kicks. Then about 3 days later it turns on again. So I left it on, I decided I'll install Windows 7 on it and reflashed the bios with vista's bios and drivers (I was using XP Media center before). After installation and everything, formated the whole computer, the laptop seems to be boot up fine now. Atleast 20/20 boot up success.

Seems like the laptop works again. What could have been the problem? Wireless card is still dead but I could care less about that now. I read around, some people say its the soldering between the GPU and motherboard.
