Hi Guys, Sorry to just jump in without a hello to you all, I have just installed a heat sink and fan to a HP DV6000. It all went well or so i thought until i rebooted. Nothing happened. i got some info of the hp helpline tutorial saying that you must reset the system ID & or the serial number after replacing the system board ?, i thought it meant if you installed a brand new board ?help please Cheers

That's news to me. I've repaired several HP notebooks and have never run across that.
Retrace your steps, make sure you didn't short anything. You did remove the battery before doing all this right? -
Thanks for the reply, yes i stripped it right down so that i could turn over the system board to replace the heat sink & fan
this is a direct quote from the HP services media library:-
The system ID and/or serial number must be reset after replacing the system board. HP has tools and utilities that can be used to change these settings. For external service partners, these tools and utilities can be retrieved from the Channel Support Network (CSN). Only HP Authorized Service Providers and repair facilities authorized to service the notebook can access CSN. Internal service personnel can access these tools and utilities .
i found this after i replaced the board. Doh! -
