I bought an HP DV6233SE about a week ago.

    AMD Turion™ 64 X2 Mobile Technology TL-50
    Windows Vista Home Premium
    1024MB memory
NVIDIA GeForce Go 6150 (UMA) graphics with up to 288MB shared video memory

I recorded 'Lost' in 720p HD using WatchHDTV (recorded file format is DVR-MS ). I played it on the HP DV6233SE but the video is choppy. Memory and CPU use are ok, My guess was the integrated Geforce Go 6150 is not enough to handle HD content.
Then I downloaded some 720p clips from Microsoft's WMV Showcase, they played smoothly.
Now I have no idea why the recorded content can't play well on DV6233SE. Does the format of the file matter?
Can anyone share their experience in playing recorded HDTV on HP DV6233SE?

    Update:
I installed the lateste version of "The KMPlayer" and the playback is smooth.

I'd guess it's a combination of the playback program (WatchHDTV?) and the UMA GPU. If the playback program doesn't know how to use the GPU's acceleration features then the limited video memory bandwidth may be causing problems. I have the same problem with MythTV's HDTV playback on my GeForce 6150 Linux desktop if I don't configure video acceleration correctly. Fortunately Myth saves regular .mpg files that I can play over my LAN with VLC or Windows Media Player. Speaking of which, you should see if VLC will play your HDTV recordings. You might be surprised.

Thank you for the reply. I didn't install WatchHDTV on the laptop yet. I tried the playback with both Media Center and Windows Media Player, neither played the video well.
