Hi - I'm trying to go from Vista to Xp on this machine and everything is fine except there is no way to get the sound to work - keep getting 'media' error - does anyone know a way around this?

I tried Windows update , HP update , new Conexant drivers and nothing would fix it - I HAVE to get this to work - even called HP tech support & they had no clue and finally told me they dont support XP on this machine but I don't see why it won't work condsidering it's been done before on the DV 6000 series.

If not why would HP or MS screw this up?

From what I found on the internet, the DV6300 series has a nVidia MCP51 HD sound card, check your device manager to verify. If so, this forum thread might help.

According to post #8, that guy has installed Win2k driver of dv9000 (you can find it here). Also check the post #11 that guy is referring to the same driver [ Link is given in the same post].
