I just bought a DV6436NR at Best Buy today. It had no user manual in the box. Absolutely no "here's what you bought and how to use it" manual. It had the fold out quick start guide, the quick reference guide and the warranty guide. I called Best Buy and naturally they told me I bought the last unit so they couldn't pull a manual for me. I used the HP online tech chat and they kept telling me to download and print a bunch of files. B.S.! What if someone bought the unit and didn't have internet access. They'd have no information about the system. Is it possible they are shipping something like this with NO user manual?

It's not just a matter of starting it up and opening programs. I'd like to know more about its installed options and the operation of this particular unit. This is my first laptop and some things are different than a desktop. Life for me is more than eating and breathing computers so I'd like a basic owners manual. I simply can't believe one wouldn't come with it. There wasn't even any information on charging the battery.

is there a manual on the hard drive anywhere, our XPS 400 came with no printed manual, instead, the manual was in PDF form in a "user documentation" folder.

Most user manuals are online now. Most laptops ship with no user manual

I finally found the user info in the HP Total Care Advisor after digging around. It would have been nice if there had been something in the box to point me there. With the absolute minimum info in the box I have to think something had been left out.

Mine has lasted a bit under an hour on the Balanced setting, nearly identical to my older lappy.
