    Hi.

I have an HP DV6500 series laptop.

I was using it yesterday to surf the net on a wireless connection. I put it to Hibernate when I was finished.

When I started it back up later in the afternoon, the lights would come on but then after about 15 seconds they would cut off for about a second and come back on.

Nothing comes up on the screen and the laptop isn't starting up.

I've noticed that the HDD light isn't coming on at all, only the power light and all the other lights around the keyboard.

Do you all have any idea what could be causing this problem?

    Thanks.

    The batter is charging.
I'm getting absolutely nothing on the screen.
I will have to try the OS DVD and see what happens.

Sounds like a problem like the earlier models....how hot has your laptop been running?

My old DV8120ca with XP did something like this, but after turning it off it sometimes wouldn't boot the next day. Sometimes did. When it wouldn't boot it had all the keyboard and power lights come on and no activity.
I found a work around was to unplug AC and remove battery, hold power button in for a minute and then put everything back and booted fine.

The only thing that I finally did to solve this issue was to disable Hibernation in Power options. Its booted perfectly since. I never used hibernation before or after and it wasn't hibernated when this problem happened, it was turned off.

Anyway, can you remove battery and hold the power button in, then reinstall battery and or AC and then try boot it up?

    1) Take out the battery pack and unplug the AC power

    2) Hold the power button for 30 seconds

    3) Only plug the AC power in

    Try turning it on now
