    hi all,

I got this laptop and found out it comes with Vista (argh!). Even with 4Gb of RAM it seems so sluggish on Vista! Has anyone performed a successfull downgrade to XP with all drivers working as should? If so, can you guys help me getting its drivers?

    Thanks!

Have you tried doing a clean install of Vista? It makes a HUGE difference. I mean if you wanted to move to XP, you can, just go to the thread posted below and it will tell you everything you need to know. If you like Vista and wanted to give it a try, I highly recommend doing a clean install, because it will make a huge difference in performance.

By clean install you don't mean the system recovery from HP, right?

No, I mean you get a Vista Installation disk and reinstall using that. Then you have to download and install all the drivers for the hardware inside your laptop. Every laptop and desktop that you purchase from a manufacturer such as Dell and HP is filled with bloatware. Bloatware is a whole mess of software that is installed on the computer that you don't need. Companies pay Dell and HP and other companies money to include their software inside every computer that they sell. This software and crap slows the computer down tremendously and therefore by doing a clean install with a regular Vista or XP installation disk the bloatware is no longer installed.

Here is a link to a clean install thanks to orev:

HP (and others, to be fair) install a TON of extra bloatware and start up programs. They say that are good for you...but they aren't...HP just gets paid a good amount of money to force the programs on you.

Try the fresh reinstall of Vista...it actually isn't that bad anymore.
