    Hi,

I had upgraded my HP dv6928us from Vista to Win 7 (32bit)
In Device manager it does not shows the webcam, there is no Hardware showing in imaging devices.
I tried updating the driver for HP Universal Camera Driver as no software driver present for Dv6928us model on driver download page. I also tried with updated Cyberlink YouCam software also, but with no help.

I check with Intel support page ( Intel® Driver Update Utility) for any update required in chipset drivers, but it didnt showed any update required in

May be it need a Bios update ... (not sure about it)... i check this for more info, but got confused to select which model

BIOS of laptop shows as Phoenix (Bios Version - F.59)

Use the webcam driver for your vista that should work in Windows7. I can't be for sure but I do know that Windows7 will run vista drivers if there isn't a Windows7 driver webcam for it. So remove the HP universal driver as that most likely isn't the right driver and lookup on the HP site with your model and part number and find the vista webcam driver and software for the vista model and download and use those. Should neither of these work one can only conclude your webcam no longer functions and is dead and you will have to go to eBay or like to buy a new or used webcam and replace it so it works again. But if the driver and software doesn't detect then the case would be a dead webcam unfortunately.

Hey... my webcam is not even detecting in DM.
As advised i have removed the HP universal driver and installed Cyberlink Youcam driver from here --> Cyberlink YouCam Software (sp56980).

    Webcam is HP webcam

But in device manager its not showing Imaging devices also.

    Any help would be appreciated.

OK so you uninstalled the general driver and installed the proper driver for the HP and this time no webcam device is detected. This would mean your webcam is no longer functioning as before and you will have to replace it. I have a DV6-1235dx older model doing that and did the same detection as your indicating but once I replaced the webcam it detected and loaded the drivers for it. As long as the cyberlink youcam isn't loading the drivers for the webcam that means your webcam is dead.

Ok... then i need to get it checked at the service center and get it replaced.

I am still not sure, hw come it is not working in Win7, i was using it in Win Vista and was fully functional at that time.
Now i am thinking to get the o/s reversed back to vista.

Go to the HP site and type in your part number at the driver hp support product site and it will take you to your driver download and there it should tell you your latest drivers and BIOS update listed there.
