I love this laptop, the build is excellent (Except for a stripped screw that I will have to remove later in the HDD bracket).

A HUGE annoyance that I found after loading up some of my games is that HP crippled the GPU frequency when the laptop is not charging.

The 650m runs games incredibly well, Skyrim runs at literally all Ultra settings at a constant 35 fps. However, when it is not plugged in, Skyrim becomes unplayable even at about 720p Medium.

The base frequencies when plugged in are as follows:
    GPU Clock Speed is 745MHz
    Shader Clock Speed is 1490MHZ

However, when the power cable is unplugged, the frequencies are:
    GPU Clock Speed= 405MHZ
    Shader Clock Speed= 810MHZ

The crippling of the GPU makes this laptop more of a Gaming Desktop. rather than a laptop. I have tried using MSI Afterburner, EVGA Precision, and Nvidia Performance Tools, but the clock speeds are not affected. Does anyone know how to fix this?

that is normal and by design, otherwise your battery wouldn't last for even half an hour.

The battery can't physically supply the needed energy to power it at the default frequency.
