Does anyone know how good the build quality is and also how well it manages heat?

I had this for a while.
Manages heat relatively well for an HP. If you're gaming I wouldn't recommend doing so on bare skin unless you like a little heat.
The build quality was pretty darn good on this thing. It got dropped when I was getting out of my car on vacation, and there was a minor dent but nothing serious. No dead pixels/minimal keyboard flex/nice screen and all that.

It's a good computer for basically everything but gaming.

I am going to upgrade the video card to a ati radeon 6770! Have you played some intensive games on it? is it hot enough to actually hurt?

After like 3-4 hours it starts bothering me a lot.
Other than that it was pretty good though.
And what do you intend to play? A 6770 isn't really sufficient for modern games.

League of legends, dota 2 and diablo 3 when it comes out. you think a 540m can handle those?

You should probably be fine for those. For any sort of reference use this list.

I would highly recommend the DV6tqe.
Really it is a very versatile machine.

If you're not gaming, using Intel 3000 HD graphics, it runs cool and the aluminum even feels cool to the touch. Battery is great.

When your're gaming, or require performance, it gets hot, but it's still bareable to me, especially considering that it's a laptop that is so lightweight and thin when you take into consideration it has a quad and a 6770m.

If you turn off TurboBoost, it really takes the edge off the heat. And in many games (those optimized for quads) you don't notice a difference.

It's built sturdy and looks like it will last long. :D
