I just bought the HP DV7 - 4071nr with dedicated 1GB Radeon 5650 graphics card from Staples. When I load up Starcraft 2 and go to options, it says it doesn't recognize the graphics card. I have installed the latest Cataylst driver from this forum. Starcraft 2 recommended a lower resolution and medium settings. I was hoping that with core i7 and Radeon 5650, I will be able to play at full resolution and high setting. Even at medium setting, I detected some lag. Does the DV7 - 4071nr have switchable graphics? Is it possible Starcraft 2 is detecting the integrated graphics if available?

The game is optimized for two cores -there is no noticable performance gain with four cores- and your card is mid-range. What resolution are you running the game at? How much memory does your system have? I would have thought that medium settings at 1600x900 would be fine. What settings do you have enabled in game e.g. shaders?

There isn't switchable graphics and the game doesn't recognize my card either. I wouldn't worry though. Here's what I have mine set to. It works great so far for 1v1 and 2v2, running at 30+ fps for the most part. Slows down a bit during single player campaign though. To make things smoother in 3v3 and 4v4, I switch Lighting: Medium and Physics: Low. Models is set to Low because there's some sort of bug with ATI's drivers and the way the energy fields are rendered from the Protoss Pylons. Clicking on a Pylon in a well-established Protoss base would slow my system down to a crawl.
