Hello, I have an HP DV7 1247cl Model laptop, which had Windows Vista Home Premium 64-bit pre-installed.
Just recently, I upgraded my OS to Windows 7 Ultimate 64-bit. I installed all of the drivers except some of the HP MediaSmart software.
My problem is, the touchpad on top of the keyboard that controls HP MediaSmart launch, Mute/unMute, volume, and toggle wifi connection does not work. I have installed the latest BIOS 2.7 I think (something like that), and in my programs list it also says that I have the HP QuickLaunch buttons installed as well. I have read previous forums such as
IT Resource Center forums - Quick Launch buttons issue - no longer work
about hard-booting being a temporary solution, however I am looking for a permanent fix, as this will continue to annoy me. I want everything to feel as if I had purchased it stock... except with Windows 7 on it instead of Windows Vista.
Update: The click-sound that it used to make when you tap on one of the icons does not work, as well as the identifier does not show up on screen. (Such as when you mute, it doesn't notify you on screen).

Do you have MediaSmart SmartMenu installed? If not, install it and see if that helps. On-screen volume/mute display is not working without SmartMenu. Try to re install QLB and make sure you download all the latest drivers/software listed for your model in this forum.
