Hello everyone, atm I’m trying to fix a friend’s DV7 and have some issues.... Originally it was a working laptop and i took it apart to fix the cooling fan because it was making a lot of grinding noises. Got it apart, cleaned the fan and such (it's quiet now) and put it all back together. Now it all powers up, including the back light but the screen is blank and the HDD indicator isn't blinking. I'm fairly competent on taking it apart and have done so 3 times now to find what went wrong. I've also tried a power reset (no bat or cable, start button for 60 sec.) but nothing happened. If anyone has any advice on how i could at least attempt fixing this please let me know. I have the laptop sitting here ready to try anything suggested, ty very much in advance.

You may have already tried this...?
See if this trick jumpstarts things: turn on your computer plugged in and with battery. If it comes up black screen then pull the battery out (computer still on and running off plug). Then hold the power button until the system shuts down. Wait about 5-10 seconds then turn the computer back on without the battery installed.

If that doesn't/didn't work, then do this:
Turn the computer off, put the battery back in, unplugged the computer from the power suppy, turned the computer back on. If the screen comes on, then plug the power cable back in.

Do you get ANY HD activity at all? Can you "escape" into your bios setup during boot?
