heya guys just a quick question about my hp dv7 1020us, I have a scratched screen that and some dirty spots behind the glass(plastic) on my screen. the display itself is fine, but was wondering if there was any way and place to get just the plastic cover for my laptop. i have searched and only found the whole display unit with bulb and such for way too much. and also if anyone has done this how hard is it to pull this screen off since i cant seem to locate any screws or anything.

Thanks in advance for the reply's

It sounds like you have a "FG" (Full-Glass) model DV7-. These units are COMPLETE NIGHTMARES to take apart. Google the DV7 Hardware Maintenance Manual if you want to know how to take it apart.

Per HP, they do not sell the front bezel/lcd protector seperate. It comes as one whole unit. The unit is held together (Bezel Trim/LCD Display/Front Plate) by extremely strong foam tape. I take them apart to replace LCD's at work, and it's complete .

Either replace the whole assembly, or try for a used one off eBay. Otherwise, you're hosed. Sorry man!
