Hello everyone, I have an HP DV7-1130us laptop and the display has gone dead. I tried holding down the power button with removing the battery to discharge the laptop to no avail. I also connected the laptop to an external monitor and there is also no display on the external monitor.

I removed the battery and hard drive and booted and had the same issue. I am assuming maybe the video card has been damaged somehow since both the LCD and VGA connection are not working. I opened the laptop and checked all the internal parts and everything looks fine .The laptop is out of warranty so I would like to get this issue resolved myself without spending money on repairs.

Any info would be appreciated. Thank You.

I don't think you can do much. Clean it, if it has 2 RAM modules take one out.
test it. Other than that only in a repair store they can know what is going on, and then you can decide if it is better to repair or just buy a new one and sold that one for pieces.

I forgot to mention I reseated the memory and took both sticks out to no avail.... The GPU is a ATI Radeon HD 3200 RS780M.

I did some research on this error and noticed there was an issue with the CPU and the GPU over heating since they are next to each other on the mother board and HP's design was horrible which didn't have enough copper to keep the board cool and only one fan to cool off the board. Not sure if this is the issue but I def. hope it's not.

HD3200 is a integrated weak card i would be surprised if it can get much hot.

I can't seem to find a motherboard replacement online... Would you guys know the best way about getting a new mother board for this laptop? I'm curious to see how much it is to see if it is worth it or not to even try replacing since they can prob just buy a new laptop for 100 more with better specs.

Partsurfer.hp.com -it's pretty much as online as something can be.

Get a repair manual for the laptop, you can find exact spare part numbers there.
