    Hi there,

    i want to purchase a dv 7 1080( dutch modelnumber) with the following specs

    Intel® Core 2 Duo P8400
    500GB Harddisk
    4GB DDR2 RAM
    Nvidia geforce 9600GT 512MB
    Blu-ray ROM met SuperMulti dvd±r/rw duallayer
    Intel® PRO/Wireless 4965AGN
    17-inch WXGA+ high-definition BrightView 1440x900

    How will this laptop perform and how is it's durability?

    It is made by Compal, not HP so it is not the highest quality per se (it is like a Honda Accord instead of BMW) however specs wise, it is great overall and does run relatively cool so I don't see why it should go bad anytime soon. Personally, I love this notebook overall.

    Unlikely, as HP does not manufacture laptops. They use contracted ODMs like they always have. At any rate, it should be easy enough to tell where it came from if you ordered a CTO. Look at the Fedex shipping label on your box, as it tells you the ODM origin.

    For example, my Compaq CQ50Z was manufactured by the Wistron Kunshan Corporation.........

    no i am just saying that most parts in the laptop are not by HP. they buy from other manufactures
