    Hello.

I have an HP DV7T and for some reason the battery icon is now missing from the System Tray. I noticed that it will shut down when the battery is low (without ac power) without any warning.

I don't see an icon with it plugged in or not plugged in.

    Any ideas?

    Thanks.

To see the ICON right click within the System Tray and select Properties/Notification Area. Under System Icons make sure there is a check mark in the Power box.

The battery warning is set to your preference in the Control Panel/Power Options - Change Plan Options - Advanced Power Options section.

The power option is grayed out when right clicking system tray and going to properties.

I restored all power settings to default and still no luck.
    Any other ideas?

    Thanks

Have you tried to do a System Restore back to a time when your system was working as it should? You may want to do that first before proceeding.

I always have more ideas :D "Hold onto your lug nuts" your gonna love this

    1. Click on the start button
    2. Go to the SEARCH box search “device”.
    3. Click on "Device Manager".
    4. Click on the "+" of System Devices.
    5. Right click the “ACPI Fixed Feature Button” and select "Uninstall".
    6. Restart your computer. The ACPI will be automatically reinstalled.
    7. Once your computer is restarted your “Power” box should now not be greyed out in the notification area.

Again perform what I suggested in my previous my post.
To see the ICON right click within the System Tray and select Properties/Notification Area. Under System Icons make sure there is a check mark in the Power box.
