got tired of waiting for the Envy 17 3d with sandy bridge, so bought the DV7T quad with sandy bridge last night. I notice today that it is no longer available on the hp site.

I am very happy with my configuration, particularly the following:

    660GB 7200RPM Dual Hard Drive (SSD 160GB + 500GB 7200RPM)
    2nd generation Intel(R) Core(TM) i7-2820QM (2.3 GHz, 8MB L3 Cache) with Turbo Boost up to 3.4 GHz
    8GB DDR3 System Memory (2 Dimm)

I shall wait with interest to see when the Envy comes out. The HP representative said it would take 'a few months, maybe six months'.

Well, its still there. Last night it was at the very bottom of the high performance laptops page and the price was $999.99. Today it is second from the bottom and the starting price is shown as $799.99. Thats why i missed seeing it.

I called HP and they said even though the price is shown as $799.99 starting, if you try to configure it you will observe the starting price to be $999.99. They are right.

yea seems you can pre-order them atm, but its the same for the other lines, i've been quoted may for the refresh of the elitebooks.

I think it'll be spring at least before they surface though

HP rep is always gonna want you to buy whats available now then what will be available in the future. I doubt envy will be 6 months later then the dv7t.

The latest "pull a date out of the air" rumors always amuse me. Folks there are NO dates coming from HP for the SB Envy 17 (at this time). As a reminder:

    1. what HP wants us to know is detailed in their Jan 4 press release, available on hp.com. In this press release, HP said "Jan 9" for the SB pavilions and "soon" for the SB Envy 17

    2. At this time, any information beyond the above is just speculation and rumor, with absolutely no credibility behind it. this includes opinions expressed by the HP sales team as well as brick-and-mortar retailers.

However, that doesn't mean no new information or credible speculation will come, and it doesn't mean we have to quit talking. Instead, I'd like to propose that, to help the signal to noise ratio, any new speculations (i.e. I've heard "February", "6 months", and "January 24") should site some credible basis of opinion. Some suggestions:

    * If the source is a sales person (including HP sales team), then include whether or not this was his/or opinion or if the info has come from some official source. For example, an HP communication, or if actual SKUs or other information are actually found in their system.

    * if you offer some new interpretation of the available KNOWN data, then explain your reasoning. for example, "HP probably won't wait very much longer because..."

i'm not pulling anything from anywhere. I was quoted May from 2 different HP reps when i specifically asked about the SB elitebooks.

Source HP UK and HP HK.

if you want to be arsey about it.

Well, considering that this thread is about the DV7T Quad and the Envy 17 Sandy Bridge, your statement, while interesting, is not really relavent. The Elite book is an entirely different product line.

different regions and countries may also have different policies and information regarding release. So for those interested in the Envy 17 Sandy Bridge, its good to know that the HK and UK Elite books are rumored to have it in May!
