very sad to see my new laptop has the Intel Centrino Wireless-N 2230 single band wifi card in the description on intel page it says it can get 300mbps wondering how to get this my old intel N card got 300 just fine. If i need a new card some help in the right direction would be appreciated.

You can read this (anandtech.com) very informative article about the actual capabilities of modern mobile wifi cards. The article is about the Bigfoot Killer-N wifi card, but there are lots of info and benchmarks about other wifi cards (including Intel). Notice the speeds descibed there at which these supposedly 300Mb/s cards connect to a good router.

thnx yea good read still dont understand the crappy wifi card in a high end laptop Im very interested to see if anyone has the correct settings that would get 300,mbps on the card I have or I am more interested in finding a "HP" compatible WiFi/Blutooth card that works with my laptop

The 2230 sucks, I'm not sure if it's even capable of speeds beyond 144mbps. It wasn't on my M17x and doesn't appear to be on my new dv7t either. Why they won't let you pay $50 or something for a decent card is beyond me.

HP DV7T-7000 Wifi settings that = 300mbps
