    Hi,
Just bought this DV8233CL yesterday, although this is my first notebook I know a fair bit about PCs and have a massivly overclocked desktop system.... I use this laptop mostly plugged in so power is not the issue, can anyone please suggest a way to squeeze a little more juice from this machine... bios is HP oem so i can't touch clock settings there (is there a way to flash with one that has more control?) ... i have overclocked my video card with coolbits 2 already....

    system specs:

    Centrino Core Duo 2 t2300 1.66mhz x2 2mb cache
    Geforce 7400 go 128 dedicated 128 turbocache for 256
    2 x 100 gb 5400rpm HD
    1024 677 DDR2 ram
    yonah chipset
    17" widescreen

    THANKS IN ADVANCE

I haven't the faintest idea on how to flash the BIOS to non-HP, or hacked. Probably not possible anyway, but for home use that processor is probably enough as it is.

I would say the biggest bottle neck is the RAM, get 2GB. If you have the money, you can upgrade the hard drive to 7200 RPM. But I would wait a little bit on the hard drive since I'm hearing that a 160GB 7200 drive is going to be available soon.

You could always switch the CPU out, but probably is too costly to make it worth it. I'd keep your money in the RAM and HDD.

To to Op, ... really not a good idea to overclock a notebook...

It's not like a deskop in which you have allot of air flow around things... and if you burn out the gpu for example you're looking at a complete motherboard replacement.

That being said it's always fun to see how far you can push a system...

One idea, instead of overclocking the cpu may be to trim back XP, the OS, stripping out everything that really isn't needed. (create a gaming profile, if games is your thing)

BTW: If you find any HP bios hacks, please do post them!!!!

One more thing, what kind of benchmarks are you getting from the Geforce 7400 go 256 , Centrino Core Duo 2 t2300 1.66mhz?

    Stock=
    Gpu overclocked to?=

    Thanks for the replies!

I will be trimming my windows down for gaming/performance, great suggestion!

imho it didn't overclock very well (mind you I only used the detect optimal frequencies button because I'm not experianced at picking out video card instability)
