Help, I I have a HP DV9417cl. I has worked great untill recently. When I turn on the computer somtimes the screen will not turn on. The computer will turn on like normal, but after 5-8 sec the computer will shut off. It will then turn back on. I usually just manually shut the computer down when the screen doesent come on.
Then after several tries the screen will come on and the computer will boot up. If I can get the computer past the boot-up stage it will work fine. It seems like the computer doesent recogonize the screen sometimes durring boot-up.
I called HP tech support and the had me install a new bios, reinstall the battery, and HD. That dident help. They now think it may need a new motherboard.
I have been using the computer all day and it has been flawless. I thougth that if the video card, or motherboard was bad, it would be bad all the time. It seems like my problem is only on boot-up. I have the screen shut off after a couple minutes to save power, and when I go back to use the computer it always has the correct display.
Any ideas on what this could be?
