    Hi everyone,

I would like to reduce the tempeture of my CPU and GPU. The current tempeture of the GPU is 60C and CPU 50C. I have thermal paste between the heat sink and the chips, but it is not enough. I would like to know if someone has tried the thermal copper pads from ebay or another effective method.

    http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/DV9000-Copper...g_LaptopAccess_RL?hash=item230384a9b8&afsrc=1

Do you know if the thermal copper pads can really reduce 20% of the tempeture in GPU and CPU?

    Thank you for the help

I haven't tried it but they're supposed to help significantly. Your current temps are decent though. You have updated the BIOS to one of the newer revisions that runs the fan 24x7 right? That's the most important thing to do.

Those temperatures are perfectly fine. You will not have any problem. When they reach over 80C then you have to worry.

Hey, I have had a couple of the DV9000's in for repair .. (hobby not a shop) .. but your temp's seem ok .. did you replace the thermal pad over the gpu??? that is a must to do .. or IMO you may end up having the dreaded no video, or loss of wireless eventualy .. sounds bad but I use an every day Item not off ebay.. 1C.... it should be in your pocket.. link provided

The copper penny trick works GREAT! I cleaned up an old penny with Articlean, reflowed the broken NVIDIA northbridge in the dv2000z (forgot to put Arctic Silver between the dime and chip, oops, still worked, used a double layer of aluminum foil to shield the rest of the board), put everything back together and now the GPU is idling at ~50C and maxes out at ~63C (QuickTime video on fast forward). That's an over 20C improvement. I'm clean installing Vista now. Hopefully the reflow will stick this time, last time it only lasted a week.
