I have an HP Pavilion DV9428nr 17" and I tried updating it sometime ago using the sp36264 winflash. Don't ask why, it's been the biggest injustice I've ever perpetrated on my laptop.
Well, somewhere in the installation, I get a BSOD and the PC crashes. Once I turn the PC on, I get only a few blinks from the blue lights on the keyboard and nothing appears on the screen
ATTEMPTS: I tried getting touch with HP and all they give are these lame solutions like taking the battery out etc, and when I finally made it clear that I felt the bios needed to be rewritten, they told me it was out of their field to advice me how to do so.
I cannot return the laptop for it to be repaired given that I live in Ghana, West Africa and so I might as well but a new laptop with that kind of money.
I have tried creating a boot diskette with the 268076 BIOS thing and replacing the WPH file with a previous HP version etc.. etc and using WIN+D, I got it to read the USB floppy. But after it was done, some 15 secs later, the laptop did not go off by itself, now did it solve the issue....
Maybe, I'm using the wrong files.. Can anyone give me a solution to rewriting my BIOS or solving the issue some other way. And please give me links to the files required to do so....

Pavilion dv9428nr specifications
Normally I'd just blame the defective NVIDIA chipset and say to let HP deal with it under their enhanced warranty program:

But if it is just a bad BIOS flash it might be recoverable. Someone figured out how with the newer HP notebooks:

I'm not sure if that works on dv9000's.
