Just got my new 9500t... I love it...

Anyway was upgrading firmware and software for it and I saw
that my DVD drive's firmware is from 2006... I wanted to update it but the only update I saw on hp.com was for Firmware HP-21 for TS-L802 Optical Drive...

    http://h10025.www1.hp.com/ewfrf/wc/...&cc=us&dlc=en&product=3369393&os=2093&lang=en

Anyway I went into live chat with a hp tech guy, told him my s/n and product number and model number and all that, and he said that was indeed the firmware update for my dvd drive... I'm like dude are you sure... it doesn't say Pioneer or anything... He said yah yah that's the one...

Anyway needless to say, went to install it and it said "Target not found"

So anyone know if there's a firmware upgrade to my drive...

    Pioneer DVR-K17B...

Everything works fine with it, it's just the only DVD that it doesn't read for some reason is Transformers... it's not the disc cuz it works on my linux machine, and my Xbox 360... so I dunno...

I too have a Pioneer DVR-K17B DVDRW and would like to update firmware. Can anyone please tell me where to find out where this might be available?

if your drives work properly I see no reason to upgrade firmware

I have the same drive in my HP Laptop. I used to love it until I tried to burn a dual layer DVD. Forget it, it doesn't work. I've tried 15 different writing programs and none of them have worked. It gets halfway done, then boom, error. It's decent for burning normal DVD's. It gets about 8.0 X burning speed. I guess that's good, but trying to burn a dual layer. Don't bother. Find a different drive.

Perhaps your drive is malfunctioning. If it's still under warranty, HP should replace it.

Here's the thing about HP and updating, their website is never up to date with the newest software and firmware updates for third party devices. If you want to update stuff on your laptop go to the manufacturer's website of that device and get the updates.
