I am seriously thinking about buying the above mentioned HP and I had a question. I don't want to spend the extra money for two hard drives, at least at this time. So I am wondering if it is possible to buy a hard drive for myself and add it to the notebook if I wanted to? I'm just not sure if HP changes the notebook in some if you only get one drive...

    Thanks

When I purchased my DV9500t I priced around HDDs because I knew it would be cheaper for me to upgrade myself and heres what I found:

I got the 120GB 7200RPM SATA HDD with mine because it was only $50 extra, or something around there. If I wanted to upgrade to the 240GB (2x 120GB 7200RPM) it would have been $275 extra. I looked around and found a 200GB 7200RPM SATA HDD for $200 on Newegg, and I researched it out and its $40 for the HDD adapter and case you need to install a HDD in the second bay on the DV9500t. Yeah I know, it sucks that they don't give it to you when you purchase the laptop, but you can buy it after the fact for the $40 like I mentioned. The price for the 200GB HDD I found was a bit ago, and I'm sure that you'll be able to find sales for HDDs and probably get in cheaper, but who knows thats just a base to work off of. So in all, you will have 320GB (1-120GB and 1-200GB) for $240-$250 instead of the 2-120GB HDD for $275 that HP offers.

I hope this helps, and if you have any more questions let me know, I'd be glad to help.

thank you for your quick response. That is exactly the answer I was looking/hoping for. So just out of curiosity how well do you like your dv9500t? I think it looks like a nice laptop though I haven't seen it in person. I'm more or less looking for a all around laptop, can do a bit of everything and still be semi portable.. It couldn't be any more heavy then my current notebook which is a old HP ze series that weighs more than 10 pounds...

So far I love my DV9500t. I have brought it around my house and used it on my laptop and it feels fine, its not too heavy and its comfortable (I'm 5'8" so I'm an average size person if you want to judge it by scale). I love the look and feel of it, and let me tell you, the screen quality is amazing! If you are interested in an all around laptop the DV9500t is the way to go, it has tons of features and the style is great. I haven't been able to install BioShock on it yet and test out the graphics power, but if you are a casual gamer or just want a laptop that you can play games on while your traveling the DV9500t is enough for you, just make sure you get the 8600m GS.

If there are any other questions you have about it let me know, I'd be glad to help.

Again thank you for the quick reply. That sounds just like what I'm looking for. I already have a nice desktop computing, so I've just been trying to find a economical, good quality notebook to play the occasional game, or watch movies, edit websites etc... Sounds like this one fits the bill.

    Thanks.
