I bought a HP Pavillion Oct 2007 from Costco customized. 4 weeks ago the lcd turned black. Contacted HP repair mailed in the laptop. I was told because it's an lcd problem inverter replacement to just restore the os to the original which I did. I got a call from Quanta the could not honor the warranty because I had my own ram in. 2x 2gb which is NOT HP certified. I told them they could take it out and use on of their and put mine back in when repair is down. The wanted me to pay for HP certified ram and wanted me to give them cd over the phone & I said no. Meanwhile I got contacted by a case manager and he told them what to do.
the laptop came back in sloppy condition dirty, fingerprint on the lcd with pin type metal shrubs. The lcd seemed fixed BUT the laptop did not look ...the latch did not cath the lcd panel.
called hp again and was told the 4 months old latop was out of warranty but the would fix it...send it off again ..about 10 days ago...but I don't see ETA on status website.
I called to day for ETA and was told what the repair center wrote on the repair note...
NO PROBLEMS DETECTED..
I can only shake my head ..anybody with an IQ of 10 can see the latch does not catch the lcd ..BIG Gap open...
So my assumption must be right..that the repair people do this out of ignorance! Their is no other way! We are treated like fools
How can one make HP aware of this! they are the bigger fools if they are not aware of it!
Just called HP Coperate & made them aware of the repair service problems!
Now I wait for results or nothing!

i have this kind of problems with every product... from low to high end.. everybody is incompetent. most of them came up with an excuse... its within specification.. its handmade; every product is different.. or.. its the natural material characteristic, etc.

This is what happens when the U.S companies just sends all their support services to international countries and below par service. HP is not the only company to do this, sadly, but DELL also does this...I think this is one of the reason why so many people went to apple instead...because there service is at LEAST SLIGHTLY better. Pretty ridiculous if you ask me. I really wish something will be done in the future to fix the quality of these companies, and not just taking **** from them like the majority of the people here. But hey, what can we really do nowadays to actually get public attention about their poor service?
