I purchased a laptop 3 weeks ago that came preinstalled with Vista Ultimate 64 bit. I am wanting to put the 32 bit version of Vista on it. Can I downgrade to the 32 bit with out having to buy another copy. I have a 32 bit Vista anytime upgrade disc and thought about using that to reinstall it. I figured sine i purchased the 64 bit I would have no problem going down to the 32 bit.

read the stickies.
-
Any particular one?
-
All of them. You should always read all of the stickies. That's why they're stickies.
-
I did read some of the stickies on the board but did not see a post that was exactly like mine. Some of the stickies are over 80 pages long and I just didn't have the time to read every page.
Are you guessing that my issue is answered in a sticky? If you know the answer it might be easier to just point me in the right direction rather than deferring to "READ THE STICKIES". That's just me.
If you don't know the answer and don't care to respond other than by saying keep looking, I would rather you not post at all. -
Just do what Lithus and therulebookman said and read the sticky, if you wont help yourself then we wont help you. If you don't like the response then go find your answer elsewhere, I for one don't like your attitude so good luck.

Follow the clean install guide.

I don't think any of you have read my post. My issue is not with installing Vista. I have read the Sticky on how to install a clean version of Vista. That is the reason I ordered the Vista Anytime Upgrade CD. My question which I have not seen in the sticky is since my laptop came with Vista Ultimate 64 bit can I downgrade to Vista Ultimate 32 bit without having to buy retail.
-
Yes. You should be able to. That's why we told you to follow the guide.

Thank You. I know I might be sounding like an @ss, but I just wanted to make sure that I was legit in my understanding. I know I'm a Newb and all, but I'm just like anyone else here. I'm just trying to learn something.
I really like this board and have read a lot of great articles including several of yours. I just get irritated when people can't even respond other than to dog pile. -
The clean install guide also has a tool that will allow you to back up and restore your activation. Otherwise what you are doing is a clean install, but it will be worth it just to read through the guide to pick up on some of the things for HP systems (mostly what software to back-up, etc...).
You don't need to read the whole thread, I keep the first page up to date as things change.
