    Hi guys,

So my gf has recently run into this problem since she was testing out Win7 and has now gone back to Vista. Going through her device manager, I can see the webcam being noted as an "unknown USB device". Trying to upgrade the driver the system says it's already using the best driver a Microsoft 2006 driver :/ We've downloaded the Cyberlink YouCam software off HP's site. I've looked around for an individual driver to load separately, but looking through the unpacked folder off HP's site, it doesn't appear to be a driver, but instead, it gets automatically installed once you install the YouCam software. We've also deleted the hardware off the device manager, reloaded, etc. I've been fixing PCs for a while so I've done all the tricks I know, but is there anything else we could try? many thanks in advance :D

I'm not sure you can get an individual driver for the laptop webcams, at least Iooked around on my DV7. When Installed win 7 i also just installed the HP webcam app, which installed MS drivers (in sys32, one being usbvideo) and ran with that ... Although I don't use the HP SW, the cam runs fine in other video apps and the HP software comes up (and can be closed) with those apps (oovoo for one).

If you're back in vista, just pull the driver out of device manager, and reinstall the HP webcam software and then see what you get.
