Hey hows it going? I am considering buying a used DV9740 that has an Intel T5450 1.66Ghz. I wanted to know if I could upgrade it to a T7700 2.4Ghz? My concern is that the T5450 has a 667Mhz FSB and the T7700 has a 800Mhz FSB will the system board just clock down from 800 to 667 if I switch? The manual says its compatible but I am not sure. Thank you for your help.
    -Craig.

They use the same motherboard for the different models with the faster CPU's. The motherboard should clock up to the 800Mhz for the faster processor.

You should check what chipset your motherboard has before getting too far into this, as long as it supports 800mhz it will most likely work. CPU-Z or a similar program can tell you what chipset you have.
