    Hi all,

Lurker here, but enjoy reading all the helpful posts. I want to ask if anyone has any experiences with the HP dx6697us model? It is a 15.4, C2 5250, 120+80 GB laptop. I just recently bought this (still within the trial period and may not keep it for the problem mentioned below). It is quite cheap and a pretty decent machine.

There is very little info about this system on HP's website, and when I talked with chat, the guy told me that it is a model introduced last year. All I can get is info on the dv series.

The main problem is that I noticed that there is a large (1/2 mm or so) gap between the black plastic bezel and the lcd glass, going from top to bottom, on both the left and right sides of the screen. The plastic is flexible and I can press it down and it springs back out. I am worried that over time, dust and moisture will get inside and cause damage.

As this is my first experience with an HP (know Dells better), is this a known problem with other models like the dvs? Unfortunately, this machine has no internal modem, only two usb ports, and only a 6-cell. It is on sale at Futureshop now (for those in Canada: www.futureshop.ca).

Because of these issues, I am thinking of returning it, but I like the price and the specs at this price point. Any info would be appreciate. Thanks!

Its not seated properly, it just needs reseating

you could call up HP or look at the service manual.

Id return it and get a properly built machine
