I've got a pavilion dm3 (not sure the model) but yesterday after I got past the logging in, it tried to load up windows 7, but my screen just went blank and nothing but the mouse cursor was still visible.

I've googled the problem and I couldn't seem to find an answer, so sorry if this is a common problem. I'm not exactly that technically savvy so any solution keep it simple for me :D

Any ideas? As I dont want to lose all my stuff on there! Thanks.

connect an external monitor to the dm3,and use the screen switch button on the dm3.To get an picture on the external monitor, that way you can acces youre documents files ect.

Or use an other computer to acces the files trough network en opy all youre important files to an other comp.

Looks like you have an backlight issue,or maybe the switch that turns of the backlight when you close the notebook is broken or dirty.

It looks like the same problem that I've had with a asus notebook, with that one,the backlight was broken....
