I can't record audio from the internet as the only option I get is through microphone. My laptop has the Conexant HD SmartAudio 221 sound card. Any one has similar problems? Solutions?

I want to record music, other audio site on the internet. There is no recording option such as mono mix, stereo mix, cd in etc. All recording is thru the mike which results in ambient noises being recorded also.

You need a special program to rip music from the internet. You cant just do it using the sound options

My previous laptop had Realtek sound card which gave options for recording such mono mix, stereo mix, cd etc which could record audio directly without using the mike. In the present case if I turn the speaker volume down no recording takes place. This is my problem. Any solutions ?
