Hello,
I have a Dv4 laptop which I've been using for about a year and a half now. Some time ago, the light that indicates that the laptop is charging (located at its side, where the AC adapter plugs into) began flickering, indicating that the charge was not constant. I noticed that when I wiggled or pushed the wire to an odd angle, the light would remain constant. So for many months I have had to constantly fiddle with this wire to get a continuous charge (poor laptop maintenance, I know, but forgive me). Recently, the laptop has died completely, after being unable to charge, no matter how I wiggle or move the wire. I suspect either the soldering is loose, or the receptor inside the laptop is damaged. I looked online to see the cost of repairing my laptop, as the warranty has already expired, and its reportedly around $100-150 to fix this kind of problem. Looking for another solution, I bought this port replicator;

thinking that if I couldn't use that outlet to charge my laptop, I could charge my laptop by plugging it into the port replicator, and having the port replicator connect to the wall socket directly. However, it does not seem to charge, and I cannot turn on my laptop at all because the battery is completely depleted.
Can I please have some suggestions how to proceed from here?
Sorry if the mistreatment of my laptop has caused some of you to cringe, I'll take much better care of my future purchases from now on!
All help is very much appreciated.
EDIT: The port replicator is supposed to charge the laptop, so I don't know why it's not charging. Am I missing something here?

Try another AC adapter, and if that doesn't work, get it fixed. Yes, most likely the jack got unsoldered, but you won't be able to know until you try a different power brick.
