Hey guys, my HP dv5t cpu is just way too hot. I keep pretty good care of my laptop and there is not really dust inside but if I just watch a youtube video my temperatures can easily go up to 65C even with a 1.875 volt to 1.075 undervolt. I have a cooler as well, and the temperatures still are just way too hot. If i play a game like tf2 my cpu easily goes to 75C while the GPU and HDD stay well within acceptable and even cool temperatures. I don't really know why the cpu is so hot compared to everything else. My friend has suggested it might be thermal paste not being applied correctly and I was looking for a second diagnoses.
Should i be sending the laptop into HP? And if so what do I call / what do i tell them for the best/fastest service? Should I try to get some Arctic silver and apply thermal paste myself? My friend says he can do it easy enough but he would like a disassembly guide on how to get to the cpu and remove the heatsink. Anyway thanks for the advice guys I really appreciate it, I really cannot afford to lose this laptop!

how long ago did u order it???
if the warranty is still good definitely get a new one, if not try and see if this happens consistently, if it does u should get it repaired. If you have not taken a laptop apart before I'd leave it to someone who has and knows what they have going to do. Taking laptops apart isn't the funniest thing in the world and you don't want to mess around with your main computer. -
Unfortunately, the HP dv5t does run on the hot side, and there's not too much you can do about it. You can expect a ~5 degree drop in temperatures with Arctic Silver, if you choose to apply it. Those temperatures, however, are actually rather typical of a slightly used dv5t.
What is your ambient temperature (aka, the temperature of the surroundings) - if the surroundings are hot, then your laptop will run hotter? -
If you go to the 90's you should be worried. Your temps seem normal for a dv5 t

Just to reaffirm, 75°C isn't anything to worry about.

Its a pretty consistent problem.... I mean the only reason temps dropped from 70 watching youtube to 65 is because of the undervolting. I think it has to do with the cpu not having any clearance to get air due to bad design and the vents pointing at the ground. I am going to try to call hp and see what I can get/what their suggestions are anyone have any suggestions on what number to directly call or how to phrase my problem to get maximum service with least bueacracy lol?
HP Dv5t CPU is too hot! Have undervolted wondering what to do!
