    Hello,
I made this thread so that people who have the full HD version of the Pavillon Dv6 / Dv7 can post how it is like to help people make the right decision concerning the screens.

The excellent advice of these forums has ensured that my order for the DV6tqe includes the FHD screen. At this point, it's mostly on faith, because I can't find any reviews of the 1080p. Rumor has it that it is a great screen. Specifics about viewing angles, relative brightness, and contrast would be awesome.

Thanks Samk for starting the thread.

I'm sure everyone agrees that the screen is great, but as Brickinthewall562 said, specifics would be great.

Hmm... Did some searches of it but couldn't find any specifics... It's not even listed on the AUO website.

I am confused of AUO naming from their site AUO - TFT-LCD AUO B156HW01 v1 seems to match model B156HW03 AUO - TFT-LCD

Also they advertising B156HW03 as the only FHD screen, is that mean the other screens are discontinued?

Are you satisfied with the current screen?
Also, the ones shipping this month are probably the same as the one in your laptop, because they are using the screens that were meant for the Dv6z

I'm satisfied...and I doubt I will be able to tell a difference between my current screen and the higher brightness or gamut....but if I had the option I would do it

The V4 is from the same generation.

The entire B156HW01 line was discontinued, and I don't think any of the B156HW03 will have higher gamut. Probably higher brightness though.

    AUO - TFT-LCD

No idea how different this thing is from current gen? Or if HP will even offer them anytime soon?

It's a little bit better, but not much. The brightness is higher (300 vs. 220) and the contrast is 500:1 rather than 400:1. Other than that it's basically the same. It's also not clear to me whether this one is glossy or matte -- it seems to be glossy. Not really worth the effort of getting it exchanged.

Are these the same hd displays that plague the envy with bad orange/red reproduction?

I made the upgrade first and foremost because it was matte, but yea 1080p is awesome! You can find what screen you've got using Device Manager

Mine reads Generic PnP Monitor, but right-clicking yielded more info under properties--> details tab--> select Hardware id from first drop down list:
    Monitor\LGD0283

Here's a review of the screen for anybody that's not sure about paying extra for 1080p, ofcourse there's no guarantee you'll get the same screen in yours hp also uses AUO screens:

Does anyone have a comparison of the dv6 fhd and 15z fhd screens? Which is better? I saw the 15z fhd screen and so far it is very good for a glossy type. Also saw the Samsung Series 7 HD+ matte type but wasn't impressed. I assume the dv6 fhd will be better than the series 7.
