Hi guys,
I received my HP DV7t QE a couple of days ago and for the most part the notebook is awesome. I am facing one problem that might make me send it back. Out of the box I noticed that the colors are skewed towards the blue (i.e. the whites etc look bluish). I calibrated my display with Spyder3 Pro and the colors got corrected. However after using the notebook for 5 minutes or if I open any app (word, excel), the color profile seems to default to the bluish tones again. I have gone into calibration, adjusted profiles multiple times etc, but this keeps happening. It is very frustrating.
Do you guys think it's the graphics card that is faulty? Even when starting windows, the colors (on the fonts etc) look bluish and not white.
Thanks,
N

Do you have any image editing software, like Photoshop available now?
I have a distant memory something about windows changing color profile depending on application in use. Basically I'm just guessing but if you start Photoshop for example and it supports color profiles, would the colors then look correct until you close PS and start Word?
I could be all wrong of course, happens to me a lot -
But then again, windows does support color scheming. -
Thanks for the responses. The problem though is that even if an application is not in use and I simply have a website open in IE/ Chrome/ Firefox, the colors change sporadically. Another thing I have noticed is that if I correct the colors (either through windows 7 color calibration or via a calibration tool like Spyder3) and the monitor goes to sleep or switches off (after a few minutes), the colors change when the display switches on next.
It is really weird and frustrating. I was wondering if anyone else with the new DV7t quads is having the same issue (i.e. bluish tint and the color profile resetting upon wake-up).
Thanks again,

Otherwise, it could possibly be a connector defect. Maybe the screen connection itself is faulty? Or maybe even the screen itself. Again, i'd wait for a few more people to get theirs. -
Cheers,

I wish you the best of luck!
