    I'm thinking about buying a dv7t, from play.com,

    Model: Hewlett-Packard (HP) Pavilion DV7-1125EA

I am thinking of the Dv7t because of the bluray player, graphics card and the good price.

What I want to know is what is the 1440x900 screen like. Is the resolution ok in a 17" screen? I currently have a 15" dell 1520 with the same screen which is absolutely fine, but what is it like in a 17" model?

The 1680x1050 resolution is not available in the UK which is a very big shame.

I would post this in the dv7t owners lounge but I don't have 15 posts

It would be best if you can see it in a store for yourself. The dv7t should be in abundance in retail outlets, so it should be easy to view a demo unit.

As for how it would look, I believe it looks closer a WXGA on a 15.4". The pixel pitch is too low for my liking as it is simply a waste of screen size, but most consumers do not seem bothered by it, so I guess it depends.

Ok thanks, I'll have a look tomorrow. I am wanting the laptop to last at least 2 years so wanting the laptop components to be good ones and the latest ones.

Isn't it true that High Def content, such as bluray discs would only play at 720p on this screen at this resolution?

Still its a shame it doesn't go above 1440x900

Well if the HD video your playing is at 1080p or i then it will be scaled down to your computer's display. So it would actually be kinda like 810p ;) (1440x810 would be the 16:9 aspect ratio for a 1440x900display )

Ok thanks for the info. It'll still look good though, and with the price of bluray movies tumbling.

I'm looking at the 2.26Ghz, 320GB hard Drive, 4GB RAM and the 9600GT, which should be fine or the CAD, Movies, Music a few games that I will be doing on it.
