m225 is amazingly fast! get it while you can! trim is supported!

I did not install HP Quick Launch and my wifi and sound lights work.
(well, the sound light only goes red/orange when muted. It's never white). -
Do you have the HP MediaSmart SmartMenu installed?
I cannot seem to get my mute light to work at all. I installed the HP Wireless Assistant, which doesn't bother me at all, and it fixed my WiFi light.
Anyone have any ideas?
Edit: I also fixed BatteryBar by relocating the Windows Language Band to the left of the BatteryBar band, and it looks great now, no more bouncing around! I kind of rolled my eyes at the thought of a program like this, but BatteryBar exceeded my expectations, I love it. -
guys help me out here
-
Nothing is likely wrong.
The WEI really isn't accurate.
Is your system fast and running well? If so, then there's nothing wrong.
-
just got my envy, first impressions, everything runs great except for the keyboard flex is sorta crazy lol. I did have a(or a cluster) of dead pixels for which I put some pressure on it while turning it on and it is completely gone, hopefully it's fixed.
but I am having this crazy ridic sound from the cd drive everytime the comp comps out of sleep or restart, is this normal?
Thanks! -
Yep, that's just the DVD drive. Not a whole lot you can do about it, as far as I know.
-
Dang, might have to order that, then sell my samsung.
-
You got an answer. -
Download and run Crystal Disk Mark to get an accurate reading of your SSD's performance.
Use default settings. -
...............
-
cant decide if i want to go through a clean install with my new envy 14 or just simply try to remove all the bloatware. what are the benefits?
exactly what type of dvds should i buy to do a clean install? and how many will i need? -
Do the Minimized Image Recovery, I think its called if you are weary of a clean install.
-
clean install. Uninstalling takes longer and requires more attention. Uninstalling the regular way doesn't fully uninstall and it leaves alot of junk behind. Any DVD±R will work fine. You need 4 DVDs for HP "Windows 7 Recovery" and 2 DVDs for SwSetup backup.
-
Press F10 to open the BIOS as the laptop is booting. There should be an option on the menu to the right of the initial one.
-
What was the original issue you were sending your system back over? Why did they decide to go with so many upgrades? I'm still confused as to why they wouldn't just give you a swap for another with the same configuration.
-
I'll sell someone here my new 256GB Samsung I'm getting in the mail as a replacement from HP for $300 shipped to continental USA. Can't confirm if it'll have TRIM or not though. Any takers? And I'll buy this one.
-
checked the programs, intel rapid store technology is downloaded.
?????
Yea I did refresh it. After a clean install my score was 1 lol, but when I refreshed it, it was 5.9 with Ram and HD having the same score. -
tornbacchus GO leafs.. Wait, Nevermid
Here are the results of my 500GB 7200RPM HD.
Looks like the SSD's are much faster
-
What's the Intel rapidstore driver used for?
-
my original issue was the dedicated ati card was not functioning correctly...could not get the machine to see it even after a clean install or a full hp recovery....it would just go to a blank screen every time i switch to it, but the machine was still on and responsive...and yeah i have NO clue why they would give me a machine that is worth almost twice as much as the one i originally purchased...
-
Did you install the Intel Rapid Storage stuff?
-
anyone's envy says they should use a better power brick to get full performance? What is that all about?
-
You see it wrong, its the memory that is 5.9.
I think you have to have a special case like yours (none of us have similar issue as yours) in order for you to get something from the research department (where apparently they will take it seriously to see what went wrong) what you have right now might be a second hand from the research department that looks like new. Its not available to purchase now and I'm sure it will pretty soon. -
love SSD in that thing, who needs Hard Drives!

Just thought I would post this:

This is the whine I am experiencing during use of some programs like itunes, firefox, opera, and using bluetooth.Last edited by a moderator: May 6, 2015 -
HP Envy 14 review -- Engadget
2.0, first page? -
Heres the engadget review.
edit: 2 seconds too late haha -
I actually received a call from the research department the same day you first posted about the offer. They wanted to ask me some questions and I told them I had sent my Envy(with whine) in for repair. They promptly said thank you and hung up. I'm bummed that I got passed up on an opportunity like this. Have fun. Hopefully I'll get a call again.
-
Saw that the review was up from the engadget app on my phone and I was just about to post a link but I was beat to it...
Anyways it looks like a pretty positive review, good to know. -
They managed to do a good job on the review. I agree with it mostly. Just I was surprised they went easy on the trackpad because they used the tap feature. I was expecting them to tear it a new one.
-
Very nice review from Engadget!
-
SO I thought I'd let you guys know what I'm going to do since I was on this forum for far too long anyways.
http://1toppc.com/Merchant2/merchant.mv?Screen=PROD&Product_Code=N82JQ-A1
Those are the N82JQ images, I'm getting a variant imported from japan for around ~$1000 US.
The Variant has a i7-620m (2.66ghz (2 cores)) processor and optimus which allows it to switch to an integrated graphics card for battery saving, much like the Envy 14.
It has a GT 335m, its specs also support the screen which I will be attempting to install,
http://www.laptopscreen.com/English/screen-part-number/B140RW02~V.0/
For $115 dollars the HD 1600x900 screen will fit quite nicely.
Lastly, I'm buying and installing a 160 gb SSD. Probably the one in the Envy 14.
There, I completed an Envy 14 Rip off composed of worse appearance but better cheaper parts, Asus hardware is least likely to fail (of any laptop company) in addition to being solidly built and being fairly resilient. Seriously my n50vn is some kind immortal, I've put it through so much and its fine, (except huge).
Thats mah' story.
Recap Comparison
+Asus support, which I love and is consistent with drivers
+Asus motherboard. No whine, praise baby jesus + animal companions
+Asus build strength
+Non stupid Ethernet placement
+Better placed optical drive, where mouse would be so no cords have to be there, left side instead
+A usb 3.0 slot
+Probably will come out to cheaper
+Significantly better processor
-No slot loader
-Probably slightly less battery life
-Teensy tiny bit worse graphics card (but not under clocked, so ??)
-No back lit keyboard
-Biggest Minus? No sexy design
-
I ordered the Cooler Master Notepal U2 someone here had purchased earlier..how much of a difference did it make in the temps? I am trying to find the post but cant.
-
tornbacchus GO leafs.. Wait, Nevermid
what's wrong with the touchpad? I like all features from 2 finger scrolling to 3 finger swipe and the tap features.
I don;t see any problems with the touchpad at all, and is probably one of the best I've used on a windows machine. -
OH YEAH,
I'd also like to note something,
I've RMA'd two Envy 14's, so I can tell you that 100% forsure the touch pad acts differently varying from model to model.
My first one they took more time on, once fully optimized I enjoyed using it.
The second one for some reason was less responsive, not a clue why, also it picked up smaller movements on the click portion meaning if I tried to click whilst moving the mouse it would jerk the mouse off of what I was trying to click,
optimization changed nothing. -
details? 10chars

Yes, I installed all the drivers that are on the Envy14 drivers thread http://forum.notebookreview.com/hp-drivers-software-forum/496027-drivers-hp-envy-14-intel.html (minus the one for HD). My only concern is it said to uninstall previous version, but since I did clean install I couldn't find anything to uninstall.
????????
nope my memory and hdd both have 5.9 -
Vladmoney, please use (spoiler) ( using the [ instead of bracket) and then (/spoiler)
When you use huge images that stretch my screen out XD -
Ummm Hmmm.
-
Guys,
I've searched this thread as best as I could and couldn't find the answer...I just did a clean install of Win 7 and am unable to get the "configure switchable graphics" when I right click. Was there an easy solution to this? Please advise. Thank you. -
did you download all the drivers?
-
After doing a clean install last night and a minimum system recovery this morning, the minimal system recovery is the way to go. No driver installation problems nor headaches and as long as you have swsetup YOU get to choose the software that goes on your brand new computer. I am also not seeing where you guys have keyboard flex. This thing feels pretty solid to me though I do have a light touch for typing.
-
Yes, I believe so. I dont' have any yellow exclamation marks on my device manager. Sorry, but this is my first clean install so I'm a complete noob. I've backed up the SwSetup as wel as made Recovery Discs
-
And is it just me or did this thing look like it had a silver finish in pictures? I could swear it is more of a champagne color in person.
-
I think the whine is coming from any device that you plug into USB. I thought I have a whine since I use USB mouse all the time, after I unplug it...the whine is gone with bluetooth still on, so I'm going to but a bluetooth mouse (I didnt like how the USB receiver plugged into my USB anyway)
They seems to be interested only on graphics issue I supposed.
That would be me I think, I didnt measure the temperature as I dont think my E14 is hot enough...I didnt even bother to plug in the fan on the USB, just mount it on the cooler stand.
That means you probably don't install the correct driver. -
Welcome to the power of photo editing.
-
which one??
-
don't you mean the power of false advertising?
