Price match what? I doubt they would compete against themselves.....

New envy 14 ebay seller: HP Envy 14 - Configure to Order (up to i7 qm/8GB/750GB) - eBay (item 290453488792 end time Aug-10-10 19:49:13 PDT)
There are also more options. You can customize to get i7-620M. I didn't see this option on the HP website. -
does anyone know if THIS is legit?
-
Is this guy legit?
-
NM... wierd it keeps double posting on me.
-
Still don't get it,why would they possibly price match and undercut a retailer? And why don't you just buy from the cheaper guy to begin with
Your just wasting your time and theirs (and ours).
BTW if you buy the E 14 you get 15% off on the sleeves at the time of order. -
I think so. There was another ebay lady that did that sort of thing but shes not available anymore. Heaps of people ordered from her and got theirs with no problems apart from the fact that it took longer to get to them because it has to travel from shanghai, to the states and then to wherever you live. He probably works at HP and gets a discount so he makes a bit of profit on it. I also bought from the ebay lady and mine should be shipping from shanghai today. She sent me the information about exactly what I ordered and estimate shipping date.
-
Im getting THIS because of its design.
-
Sounds good. Please let us know how it goes.
-
it says he's a top rated seller, so i would assume he's doing something right.
-
I hate how they rag on the Envy 15 having heat issues. That was an issue with the 1st generation, a lot of people act like the 2nd generation Envy 15's never existed, lol. I also dislike how they imply heat problems, yet they haven't used a unit yet...
-
Because I ordered on July 12th and found that website 2 nights ago.
-
So whys there no NBR review of the E14 yet? Anyone know if any other notebook reviewing sites have reviews yet?
-
I'm personally concerned about fit, hence the reason I avoided getting a Zeroshock III.
-
Will do. I'm hoping it will come some time next week or week after that. Oh and do you think if I were to order another one from this ebay seller and then sell it again on ebay for say $200 more and make some money would it be worth it?
-
I had to comment on that. AnandTech is a very reputable site, though I've never seen an article by this particular writer.
So far from what everyone has says here, it seems to indicate the Envy 14 really doesn't get that hot (or am I mistaken?). -
Agreed. There's a lot of misinformation surrounding the current generation Envy line. -
It gets VERY hot actually. Touching near the power button when doing something intensive can be burning. However the hand rests are usually cool right the left side being cooler than the right. When putting the laptop on your lap, you will notice a very hot spot on the bottom of the notebook. However the heat is very isolated and doesn't really transfer to the rest of the laptop.
HP designed the notebook very well IMO -
Are you concerned about this^ being too big or too small? because its supposedly designed to fit a 15.6, and I'd prefer to have a bigger case.
-
I'd rather that it have a snug fit instead of too much space. -
After an hour of playing Bad Company 2, my temps only got to.. CPU: 68C GPU:65C. This thing has a FANTASTIC cooling system!
-
Huh, well, I guess I was wrong. Under what kind of load is it like that?
-
So any professional reviews of the Envy14 yet? I'm curious to see what the big shots say about this awesome machine.
-
Hi All,
Just received my E14 and I'd like to post my first impressions. I'll be back later with in depth reviews and battery numbers later.
My specs:
i7-720
4GB Ram (2 sticks)
640 GB HD
Slice Battery
My model is preconfigured since I bought here in Taiwan.
+The boxing was beautiful
+Laptop itself is absolutely gorgeous, especially the screen
+I actually don't mind the trackpad. After some tweaks I'm sure I'll love it
+Construction feels very solid, no loose parts
-It's really heavy! Especially with slice attached. I'm coming from a Dell XPS M1330 with 9 cell extended battery and the weight difference is very obvious.
-I do have the slight gap people are talking about under the trackpad. Although it is very very slight and
-Right vent does get pretty hot when doing intensive processes.
-Fan is slightly loud, but not unbearable.
-Screen is a dust magnet! It will be hard to keep clean.
I have to put a disclaimer here that I am a very tech oriented person that tends to get a new machine, whether laptop or desktop every 2 years or so. However, my personality is such that minor details really don't bother me, so I would not be as picky as many of the users on this board. -
Nice, especially considering Bad Company 2 is one of the most stressing games out there, as it makes good use of the CPU and GPU. Were the palmrests manageable during that time?
-
Cool, I've been waiting for an in depth review of the slice battery and some pictures of it. If you could, please point out if it causes the laptop to heat up, if it blocks the intake vents on the bottom, and exactly how bulky is it? Does it make carrying the E14 w/ the slice on difficult?
-
Izzat on all maximum settings?
-
Yeah I would too, but if it's looser, chances are it will be better protected
That's good to hear. What settings are you running at exactly? -
If it's loose then it wouldn't protect the laptop any more or less than with a perfect fit. It might actually be worse because it can slide side to side in the sleeve and that might lead to an accident depending on how one is holding it.
-
Battlefield Bad Company 2
haha I WISH it were all max settings... I use an external monitor, a 22in viewsonic 1680x1050, and I run it at low-medium settings, with the framerate between 30-60. Sometimes it gets down to 20-25 when theres lots of smoke and buildings being blown up, but not often. If I were not using the external monitor, I bet I could run it smooth on medium, which is quite amazing for a small laptop, because this game is crazy intense. The graphics look stunning, even on low!
I also play with an external keyboard and mouse, so my hands aren't on the palm rests, but I did reach over and feel them occasionally. The left palm rest stayed pretty cold, and the right was slightly warm, but not uncomfortable at all. The only really hot part of the laptop is the back right vent, which can get quite toasty. But I am still amazed that my CPU or GPU didnt even reach 70C after an hour of play.
Team Fortress 2 also ran perfectly at all max settings on my external monitor, as did WoW with lowered shadows. -
How much did you end up paying for that configuration?
-
Could you also post your temps when idle and under load as well as fan behavior? That would be great.
-
Wow, this thread has been viewed over 750,000 times.
-
The e14 isn't available yet in Australia (I've only seen 1 envy 15 here for $2700 AUD ($2500US)). They don't even have it on the Australian HP website.
-
I'm curious, is this with the laptop screen closed (and off), making the external monitor the only display that is being run, or is it running in dual-display mode?
I'm just wondering as my experience with dual-display and gaming has been a medium to severe drop in performance.
I was kind of hoping the mobile 5650 could pull 30 FPS in BFBC2 on medium. It is an extremely intensive game, though.
Could you maybe play a match or two on the laptop display just to get a measure of performance (if you have time)? -
Amazing considering how the HDX Dragon thread took almost three years to reach 898,769 views while this thread is only two MONTHS old. The 750k+ doesn't even include other threads like the "Mine is shipping" thread.
-
Its with duel display mode. I use the laptops screen to display my temps, framerates, and other system stats. Now I am curious to see if I get a jump in performance if I turn the laptop display off. Ill give that a try tomorrow night, as well as playing some just on the laptop display. Im gonna hit the sack now =]
Edit: also, these tests are all on single player -
After further use, absolutely love the touchpad. Only thing this laptop lacks (for me) is media keys (back, next, pause/play) and I wanted to use tap zones to fix this but they're not enabled. It was discussed earlier but this thread moves so fast it's hard to find answers, but is there any way to enable tap zones, or will it be added in the future, or are we SOL?
-
Counting the gaming lounge, the "mine is shipping" thread, the quality thread and the UK thread we're already at 795 000...
-
Please please give us some solid battery info on that config, how long it can last at idle, with light work (web/document), etc. Thanks! (preferably w/out slice, but whatever you can do!) -
tornbacchus GO leafs.. Wait, Nevermid
Please post pictures with the slice battery attached
-
Harvey Norman and JB Hi-fi both have models in their system now.
There is an order that was made by a WP member for a model speced:
i5 520, 4GB, 500GB, Radiance screen for $1800.
Hopefully there will be models in Harvey Norman stores next week, but maybe more like the start of August. -
Is that the envy 14? Still, I paid $1,600 for i5-450m and 160GB SSD so I paid less for more. I'm happy with that.
-
Anyone? I'm kinda desperate:
-
Someone said "I popped the keyboard off and saw why there is keyboard flex. There is a gap in the support right around the CPU. I fixed that, however, with some rubber insulator to keep the pressure more consistent around the CPU."
Here's your flex fix.
And for the momentus XT, anyone tried it out ?
For battlefield bad company 2 performances. I find them rather disappointing if you can only run at low-medium at 1650*
the acer 3820TG runs it at high (only shadows on medium) always over 30fps (even with fraps recording) on a 1336* res screen and 430m cpu... http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=BG4sR6Y-QWg&feature=related
I don't think the performance drop from going up to 1650* should be more than 15% fps. There's something wrong with your game ? Did you set the gaming settings in ATI catalyst to high performance ? Did you put the power plan in windows seven on "Maximum performance" because even on "normal performance" pci-express may be power managed and thus bottlenecked. -
Check the bios, maybe your second core is disabled there.
-
You could try this but I doubt it would work. Click on the start bar and type in msconfig and hit enter. Go to the boot tab and then Advanced Options At the top left corner it should say Number of Processors: with no tick in the box next to it. However, if you tick the box, you can then scroll down and select the number of cores you want to be working, select 2 (it might be 4 if it includes threads) but in any case select the most amount possible and then click Ok, Apply and Ok. You then need to restart your computer. See if that fixes it.
-
The 450m is always on turbo boost for both cores at 2.66ghz anyway. It never runs at 2.4ghz unless it's overheating.
Also we still need 370m 450m and 520 score data at the Wprime Downloads | wPrime Multithreaded Benchmark 1024 multicore bench, any volunteers ?
Then again there's maybe this old setting that's messing up with your computer.
edit : ^ hivemind
If that still won't work try reinstalling the intel turbo boost driver (even tho i believe this is just a widget lol) that's downloadable on the hp website envy 14 drivers tab. -
Anandtech did a 'review' of the Envy 14. Not really a review, but it talks about it in their 14" and Smaller Laptop Buying Guide: Laptop Buyer's Guide: 14-inch and Smaller - AnandTech :: Your Source for Hardware Analysis and News
It says it has a "sealed in battery," and this sounds misleading. How is the battery sealed in? Unlike the MB(P)s, you can replace the battery.
Edit:
It also fails to mention switchable graphics and many other options, and claims the e14 runs hot. I guess it seems like they haven't really actually used one.
Edit 2:
Haha, so i pretty much copied someone else's post without knowing it. Sorry.
