    Acidblast...

Be sure to post the reason yours is late. So far, we have "Because the Envy is in such demand" and "Shortage of parts" yours of course "Takes awhile for FEDEX to generate a tracking number"

BTW...has everyone waiting been checking here for order status?

My machine is now officially "In Production" for two weeks.

They're probably going to change the number soon because we've all circulated it so widely now, lol.

they just told me that it "takes a while for Fedex to generate a tracking number" and "that technically my shipping date/build date is well within the limits"??? so i said technically speaking i should receive my envy by April 11? but he did say that my laptop is not in the delayed batch so if i don't get a tracking number by April 4 call back

    its doubtful but you are making a good point. one should not call resolutions unless there is something to resolve... I doubt they would take too kindly to general first-time sales;

Alright I'm ordering mine. Tried calling Home sales but they wouldn't budge on either an extra discount on top of HPA or using the 20% Envy 17 discount. I think I'll call back next week to resolutions and tell them I'm thinking about changing my mind, see if they'll drop the price at all.

I had the same situation. "Build/Ship" date was 03/29. On 03/30 I got an e-mail which apologized for the delay and gave me a new date of 04/13. About 45 minutes later I got another e-mail granting me a 15% discount for "my troubles". The expiration date on the coupon code was 04/30. Not likely to be used by me.

I called both regular sales and the resolution desk and they would not apply the coupon to the current order. I tried to apply some logic with them, but no go. (I'm probably not as patient as some of the rest of you).

So, I cancelled my original order, and placed a new order. Have a new date of 04/19 (6 days past the cancelled order's new date), and saved $263.00 in the process.

I would think it would there would be an easier way for HP to deal with this situation, but I got my discount, and I can wait the extra 6 days.

A customer came to me with a Pavilion dm4t today and asked me to reinstall Windows on it. It was weird working on it because it felt like an Envy but it wasn't quite the same. Myself, I've never laid hands on an Envy 17 3D but the dm4t is the closest I've gotten. I sure wish HP would ship my system already.

Guys, ripwind on the dv6/dv7 6xxx thread on NBR is taking his new SB system apart to physically see what chip HP put in their system! This is very exciting and I'm following it closely as many others are too.

Not that you need the link or anything, but here is the page where he posted that ....

    http://forum.notebookreview.com/hp-...ad-edition-6xxx-series-owners-lounge-109.html

This could very well apply to our SB version of the Envy 17/3D as well, so I think we all have an interest in this. Good luck ripwind. ;)

P.S. I do hope that HP is being honest with us and has installed the bug free chip....we'll soon find out...

P.P.S. As a side note, I kinda wish I knew what SB chip I had in my Envy 17 3D SB before I returned it for an exchange because it was so darn slow....

I imagine that's why we have warranties as well. The original Sandy Bridge was supposed to only be effected on the SATA II port...NOT the SATA III. If we are all using SATA II...that might pose an issue. We don't have any facts to prove that SATA III on these boards is disabled...BUT! That said...after all this time...with the motherboards being produced, etc. I don't think that THAT many defective chipsets are still sitting around. That would make for some major problems down the road for any PC maker

It is my understanding that you cannot cancel or make any change on a custom order. You may order and be charged for a second computer and then return one or both of them for credit. But you can only return them after you have actually received them. HP has your money for two computers which may be shipped who knows when. Am I correct?

Could anyone please tell me how to get $300 off on the ENVY 3D? Because I just called the HP Sale; and they all said, "Sorry we don't have any coupon on the 3D one."

In addition, am I able to use HP Academy with the coupon ?

    Thanks.

Same here! My order was delayed, so I decided to cancel. (It means that my ENVY had not been built until the estimated ship date  ). I also got the 15%.

So how can you use that discount combine with HP Academy? Who do I need to talk to when calling them?

People on here got it by using a coupon from the regular Envy 17 (non-3D) and calling the sales rep multiple times. Eventually, you might find a rep who is willing to apply it to your order.

The generic answer would be, not possible. Howerver, this is my experience with it:
On my first order the rep told me I would not be able to do so. I took my 300 off and was fine with it. HP screwed up my order confirmation and I had to call to eventually place a new order. Somehow my rep on the second try managed to stack the 'old' coupon on top of the HPA.

well i guess i'll see how much that $170 means to me. once i get my hands on the envy 17 3d i will have a difficult decision to make. i will either wait for my order to come and then return it and reorder the same config with the 15% discount and HPA.

on a side note i logged into my HPA account and put the envy 17 3d configured the way i want and i applied the coupon and it was giving me both the academic discount + 15% off. so we'll see what happens when my envy arrives.

Acidblast, you just gave me another idea. Get your system, and then you can call HP and try to get the 15% returned to you at that time. It can't hurt. You might get a good rep. Try a couple times. If that fails go to plan B which is the return, and use your amazing coupon and other discounts to reorder. Nice. :D

    Here's what I did.
Call HP Resolutions at 1-866-217-6014. When you get to a representative, tell them that after ordering your Envy 17 3D that you did a little research online and found that customers were saving up to $300.00 on their orders. Explain that you are kind of upset are that you are feeling a little "Buyer's remorse" and may consider canceling your order if you don't receive the $300.00 off. Most representatives will fold after that and offer you the full $300.00 off.

    This took me one attempt.

My name is Stephan C and I have received $350.00 in discounts on my HP Envy 17 3D.
    :)

It's out of my reach without coupon

Call me crazy but Norton has improved dramatically over the last 2 years IMO. I'm running it on several computers here and it's not once caused any issues or problems.

Free is excellent of course and I always recommend Microsoft Security Essentials for those who want free but I personally will stick with Norton just it makes me feel more secure haha.

    Day 1 of waiting begins....

JudenN - i don't know why the hp site didn't let you apply the coupon. all i did was log in to the hp website with my username to get access to the HPA savings. then i ordered the envy 17 3d and put it in my shopping bag and proceeded to checkout where i applied the coupon code they emailed me and pressed apply. and it worked. don't know why it didn't work for you. maybe call and ask HP why your coupon code isn't working?

KJ - ya i think i will try that. once i receive my laptop i will call them and get them to match the price if not i will just send the laptop back and reorder it with the coupon. also HP resolution said to call them today if i don't get any shipping notification so i may give them a call soon and see whats up and try to get them to match the difference of the coupon system that i built.

    I don't think it is a KO...
It is all about need vs $$$

I still don't know which way I want to go......DV7 or Evny 17....

I'm just letting everyone beta test both units and I'll figure it out in a month or so....

so i just called retentions and i asked them how come i did not receive any update on the status of my order. the CSR apologized for not sending any emails. she then checked the status of my laptop and said it has been delayed to April 15. i was shocked when i heard this. this is gonna be more then 1 month since i ordered my laptop on March 10. i told the CSR that this is unacceptable. so i said i would like to be compensated for the delay considering i paid for the laptop in full. she said the best she could do is credit me $50. i laughed when she told me that. i said with the coupon 15% off HP sent me on my next purchase i could cancel my current order and reorder the laptop and save $170. so i told her i would be happy with an extra $100 in credit.

    so total savings:
    HPA discount +
    15.10 cr
    160.00 cr
    100.cr

total of 275.10 in credits + HPA discount.

i'm losing about $70 instead of canceling my order and reordering it but i figure i can swallow that amount. or maybe i'll just call back in a couple days and try and push for free 2 day shipping.... man i'm a stinker :p

Acidblast, that CSR was playing some hard ball with you there, but good you stuck with your argument. The funny thing is HP can do much more than they originally offer, its just a matter of how long and how hard you are willing to play their ball game.

Not sure if you posted, but with all your discounts + HPA, what is the final, bottom price you paid HP for your laptop?

    Agreed...

Also, I can't believe some people are not getting this laptop just because it doesn't come with the HDD they want. Installing an after market HDD is not exactly rocket science

For some it is but I understand why you feel that way.

HP seems to be making its reps play hardball a lot more lately. My CM was a total to me about my replacement laptop but whatever. I got it and once it gets here I'll decide whether to keep it or not.

Acidblast, very nice deal! :) $599.97 in savings, cool.
I noticed you also joined the SSD club. Yeah, a few of us went that way after HP decided to take the basic 7200rpm away.

Just wondering, why did you not get the 9-cell battery too? Maybe when you call them back you get them to throw in a free 9 cell.

KJ thanks the next time i call i'm going for free 2 day shipping. I have always been a part of the SSD club. i have a SSD in my desktop and i can't go back to regular hardrives. As far as the 9-cell battery i don't think i need it. i will probably keep the Envy 17 3d plugged in 99.9% of the time just like i do with my current laptop. But hey if i can get another perk might as well go for it. :)

Oooppps. :p I had no idea. See, this will be my very first SSD. So I guess I'm joining the SSD club, lol. From all the reviews of those who have experienced SSD....it was an easy choice to make. I'm really looking forward to finally computing in the year 2011+. :D

The reason I mentioned the 9 Cell, is only because it does help a bit with cooling as it raises the back end of the Envy somewhat. I can only imagine with a 9 Cell + Coolsense...there hopefully should not be a need for a laptop cooler underneath.
