bent usb port, got that... and a few other things mentioned here, but I did not see anyone mention that keyboard would be missing keystrokes. I noticed it with Backspace key initially, but as it turns out it could happen with any of the keys, simply by tapping the same key several times. Anyone else run into this with the new series?

I thought I was the only one having this issue. I am seeing missed keystrokes as well. I have no idea why its happening. I have not seen this happening with any keyboard I have used.

There is serious QC issue with this laptop. I have already arranged for an exchange. But if the exchanged one also has the same issues, I will have to just give up... :( Too bad, this is a great piece of hardware specs wise.

Looks like the laptop on battery skips letters more often. When plugged in, its fine (mostly). Anybody found any solutions yet?

You do some setting change in BIOS? You type too fast and not used to the KB?

No, its not about getting used to the keyboard. When the keyboard is on AC, I can type normally at my normal speed and most letters are not missed. When on battery, it seems to miss some letters. Space bar is missed more often.

I haven't made any change in BIOS.

Someone in another thread mentioned disabling Action Keys in the bios seemed to fix the problem. Probably a bios glitch.

That was me. I prefer to have the normal F-keys as the primary function anyway. Disabling the Action Keys did seem to fix the problem for me... but let's put a big emphasis on the word "seem" since I haven't really tested it extensively on battery since I made that change.

The keystrokes never skipped for me whenever I am plugged into AC power. I just now unplugged my AC power and am typing this as fast as I can while on battery, and so far it's not skipping any keystrokes for me, but the battery is fully charged too.

I've now run mine down to 70% on batteries and it's still not skipping any keystrokes no matter how fast I try to type, so disabling Action Keys in the BIOS has fixed my issue of skipping keystrokes while on battery.... either that or it's just a big coincidence. Either way, it's working well for me now.

It sounds strange but the trick seems to be working for me as well. I say "seems" because I haven't run with it for a long time yet.

It is almost certainly a bios glitch with Action Keys, battery level should not be able to cause something like this, since LION batteries give a very even voltage level all the way to dead.

When it was first brought up I was worried it might be interference from the wifi card, but it sounds like it is probably action keys. Will likely get patched eventually.

    Hey everyone,

I just got a couple of days ago my HP Envy 17 (not 3D), and I noticed this exact problem...unfortunately disabling Action Keys in the BIOS doesn't help (I'm always on AC, so don't know about the battery..).

It makes the laptop almost unusable! grrr :(((

For me the problem seems to be related to touching the touchpad while using the keyboard. For example, if I open Windows Explorer, and in the address bar I keep typing a letter (e.g. 'qqqqqqqqqq..'), and then I start touching a bit the touchpad I see some pauses, or better: missing key strokes :(

Has anyone found a solution yet? I think I'll try (sadly!) to return the laptop..

    Cheers,
    Yuvi

I also did another test with the Touchpad disabled, and this still happens. It seems that something is conflicting at a hardware level..dunno.

I hope someone has a solution because I really don't want to return it :(

Nothing seems to resolve this for me so far. There is a definitive missing strokes problem with this keyboard. I am pretty mad about this. If the exchange has this issue as well, I will have to return it.... :( Its been a pain to use this laptop as a coder because of this issue.

Same problem for me on my 17 3005 (non 3d). It is (almost) certainly caused by touching the trackpad.
I didn't realize that before but I have just tried 4 lines of letters to verify, and it does seem to only happen mainly when I touch the trackpad. Disabling the trackpad makes no difference for me. Please let me know if anyone has found a solution?
