Ok, so when I sent my computer back to HP last year to get my overheating issue fixed the jerks apparently forgot to put in thermal compound onto the heat sink. Now since my warranty is up they want to make my pay $250+ to have them fix their mistake.

Can anyone tell me how I can do this on my own so I can save money?

Well I guess my question instead of the answer is, why are you having problems now, when you haven't had any for months? Whats changed and how do you know they did not put the compound on? My next question is when did they do the repair work? Has a year expired since they did that specific repair? If not, you may have a case, but if a year has passed, I doubt it. But again, what has changed to cause your problem??
