I'm seriously considering purchasing a HP ENVY 17-1011NR. I would be using it for software development. I routinely run a number of VMware vm's with development/server systems, both Linux and windows. In my opinion at $1500 this a good value. Features I like.

8 GB ram, 1920 x 1080 display, support for additional external displays, 2 7200 rpm Hard drives. I7 quad core processor.

This model is available for $1500 from both Amazon and Newegg. 2 questions:

    1) Purchase from HP, Amazon, Newegg?

    2) I will want some sort of warranty for something this expensive that I'll be lugging around. Wanrranty choices?

    Thanks.

This can be used on an Envy purchased elsewhere? I can't tell from the Costco site.
