Thanks to 'Patrica.k.' there is a way to still write a review:
HP ENVY 17 3D Ed. User Reviews (2.6 GHz, SSD 160GB+HDD 750G Hybrid, 16GB RAM) - Laptops - CNET Reviews
Note: It appears HP has put a cease and desist on CNET's review for the HP Envy 17t-3200 3D so reviews are disabled. Please post below what features are not working and any current issues your having such as the post listed below.
If there are tons of bad reviews I will submit this link to HP myself so they can see how happy their customer are.![]()

I just submitted this, it takes a review before they post it on their page. It may be up to 72 Hrs before we see it.
User reviews on the HP site take that long.
EDIT: Both showed up as user reviews on the products page.

Broken OS, No iGPU Intel HD 4000 or WiDi working
1) Big 17.4" 1920 X 1080P HD Screen
2) 3D play back of games and movies
3) Fit and finish is OK
4) Set up includes 1x mSATA and 2x 2.5" HDD/SSD bays available.
5) 2 Fans accomplish good cooling with HP's 'Cool Sense' technology
6) Nice KB lighting
1) No working Intel HD 4000
2) No working WiDi
3) Locked down Bios, advanced features are not available
4) Dismal battery life
5) Battery is not user replaceable while under warranty
6) Removing the battery while under warranty VOIDS your warranty
The switching from the AMD HD 7850M to the iGPU Intel HD 4000 is broken, it does not work.
The WiDi does not function as it is dependent on the iGPU Intel HD 4000 to be in working order.
Due to the non functioning Intel HD 4000, and only the AMD HD 7850M functioning, you will get less than 3 Hrs of battery life surfing the net WITHOUT viewing any flash media and having a minimal amount of tabs open, while on battery power.
You can only accomplish this IF you turn off the Bluetooth, Key Board lights, Proximity Sensor, apply the 'Power Saving Mode', turn the screen brightness down to 30%, remove all USB peripherals, etc, etc.
As for Blueray playback, you must shut down the WiFi as well to ONLY get 80% through a disk before the notebook shuts down.
This is unacceptable configuration decreases performance and functionality of the 3rd Gen i7 that HP has put into the notebook. You are better off purchasing the NON 3D version as it is NOT crippled by this broken OS.
Hp falsely leads us to believe that they are a functioning part of the notebook by listing the specs on their notebook features page and in their Maintenance And Service Guide.
This is one messed up notebook from HP's most expensive top end consumer line, they are aware of the issue, yet HP continues to distribute the product.

The only way to get HP to fix the situation is to STOP buying HP. I have the 2nd Generation 17 3D (SB), and switchable graphics works. The caviat to this is that HP has NEVER released driver updates. Machine is approaching a year old, and only one set of video drivers. HP needs to wake up and smell the coffee...these new machines are flawed and need attention...If sales slow down or returns rise...they will notice...
Unfortunately, people get the discount coupons and jump right on it...tell everyone you know that is considering a laptop purchase to come to these boards...they'll get the message -
Oh, Is HP Envy 17 really that bad?
I have placed my order for HP Envy 17 3D & coming on 31st of July. -
These are 2 options that you paid for.
I want the WiDi for my TV.
I have had 1 notebook pulled off the coffee table and onto the floor and damaged because of the HDMI cable was tripped over,,,,by a big, stupid, dog...... -
There is a difference.
With all that said...I wish I had the newer gen Envy. I am not a big fan of switchable grapics, because updating drivers is almost impossible. HP never updates their drivers, and I have to be very careful what version of Mobility catalyst drivers I can install and have switchable graphics continue to work. In driver versions 12.2 or higher, I lose control over my card, so I am kind of stuck with 12.1. With the new machines...you can update the video drivers to your heart's content...There is a catch 22 to all of this -
>> Once again, what are yo doing? is your lappy just sitting on a table idling?
>>> Check out Guru3D.com for a fix
>>>> NOPE, ABSOLUTELY NOT, THERE IS NO UPDATE OR DRIVER FIX FOR THIS MACHINE. -

There will be no updates, Envy is at the end of development, 3rd Gen Rev1, that's it, no more development past the 3 gen.
NO SOFTWARE UPDATES UNLESS IT EFFECTS WINDOWS OS SYSTEMS.
You best get a refund, or exchange for the non 3D unit.
HP stopped developing the HDX series at 3rd gen, I had the HDX 18- 1374CA, the 13 is 3rd gen series., it had the 12xx series as well as the 11xx series.
What's next?, maybe recycled components into a new case, possibly new hardware, who knows.
If you missed your chance to exchange because you just found this, try to escalate high up to HP AMS TCO Escalations Team and get the non 3D version. -
This is my final post to this thread.
If you are someone going through the same situation do as I have done and it should be smooth sailing.
Good luck everyone.
