One with an A10 and Backlit keyboard with the rest at stock is a fairly reasonable $675, considering it is essentially an Ultrabook.

I've ordered mine, but upgraded the ram to 8gb, BT, backlit keyboard, and external DVD drive. This configuration is $839. I will post some reviews once I get it in about a month. I must admit, I wish the resolution was higher. 1366 x 768 for a 15.6" screen is rather modest, considering the capability of the gpu. I would expect at least a 1440x900 on a machine like this. They should have at least made it an option.

you should definately go for 8GB, as this APU will suoffocate if it only has half its planned memory bandwidth.

now HP; provide the same A10 APU on the Envy 4.............................

Yeah, you know I did find it odd that they list the memory as 1600, but afaik the A10-4655M only supports up to 1333 (unlike the A10-4600M/35w variant).

You are right; The 17W and 25W parts drop support for DDR3-1600 memory, moving all RAM options down one step to DDR3-1333, low voltage DDR3-1333 and ultra low voltage DDR3-1066.

HP are sticking DDR3-1600 CL11 in everything as of now, as it is now low cost due to ramped production. No worries though as I have the same DDR3-1600 CL11 with a sandy bridge ulv CPU, it just looks at the SPD tables on the module and selects DDR3-1333 CL9 as default. Therefore will do the same with the A10-4655M.

Are the CPU's soldered down on the 6z or are they socketed?

Just thinking of upgrade potential down the road, like buying the A6 and then eventually plopping in the A10.

Only the 35W parts are socket-ed, so here you have to select A10 upgrade option if you do not want stuck with A6. Here is an $50 off with coupon code: NBZ1342 Good until tomorrow.
