That's your problem. The 740M was never really meant to be a gaming card even back in 2013. Now, in 2017, it's old and, naturally, cannot run games at all.

really? I can accept that it is not an optimal card for games, but for the programs? I can not use android simulators, browsers .....
almost all the applications run me too slowly, is there anything I can do to fix that?

No problem, we're in no rush :)

Well, unless there is thermal throttling, the GPU is simply too old. It's annoying but tis' how it is.

Then I must have patience with my laptop, lol.
It is disappointment to have 2 GB of dedicated video and not be able to use it with current games

Video memory is not really connected with the core's capabilities. If you launch skyrim and load up a few texture mods, you will easily use all of the 740M's memory without having performance problems. What cripples performance is complex 3D meshes and calculations that require more shaders and ROPs

How long you had your laptop?

Sounds like you're having other issues besides the GPU

3 years is a long time and most likely its being slowed down of years of clutter. Im taking a guess because idk if you ever reinstall windows since you had your laptop if not then thats explains your problem, Every now and then you would need to do some maintenace like running virus/malware scan, cleaning up the registry and other stuff with programs like ccleaner, deleting stuff that you dont use anymore and ofc defragging the HDD.

Unless he's running XP, I doubt the OS itself is in need of a reinstall. modern OSes like 7, 8.1 or 10 don't need to be reinstalled yearly like XP and Vista used to.

Though I do agree about the malware scan - he should check and also get an SSD if he doesn't have one - that eliminates the need for CCleaner or defragmenting as SSDs don't suffer nearly as much as HDDs do because of clutter.

Yeah thats true and i agree. A lot of things can slow down a PC if its not maintained proper. An SSD will help that problem as long the OP doesnt get infected with any viruses/malware.

When installing a new OS you should always do a clean install as upgrades are known to cause issues!

    Good luck!

I tried out that program and its works fine on my system. I even tested the IGP (Intel Hd4600) on it and works fine so its not your GPU

Maybe the HDD is the issue? Some software doesn't play nice with mechanical hard drives? Or possibly CPU throttling?

Well there is your problem friend. If the OEM has not rolled out WIndows 10 drivers, that is likely the reason you had issues - the Laptop does not officially support Windows 10.
