    Hello everybody!

I'm looking for information about upgrading capabilities of my 6930p.
Now it has Intel T9400 (CPU-Z tells: Socket P (478) ) processor, which is very good, but not best.

Since I purchased Intel SSD 80GB Gen 2, I noticed that performance of my notebook is limited by processor (it has 100% load while my Win7x64 boots up or while loading some big application).

I found several options for mobile processors which support PM45 chipset and Socket P:

    QX9300 (12M Cache, 2.53 GHz, 1066 MHz FSB) 45 Watts
    X9100 (6M Cache, 3.06 GHz, 1066 MHz FSB) 44 Watts
    Q9100 (12M Cache, 2.26 GHz, 1066 MHz FSB) 45 Watts
    Q9000 (6M Cache, 2.00 GHz, 1066 MHz FSB) 45 Watts
    T9900 (6M Cache, 3.06 GHz, 1066 MHz FSB) 35 Watts

    My current:
    T9400 (6M Cache, 2.53 GHz, 1066 MHz FSB) 35 Watts

One seller on eBay told me that QX9300 will not work in my desktop without giving any reasons. This fact confused me and I wondering which processors will run in 6930p? Please tell me where I can find compatibility list for my notebook?

Service Manual ( http://bizsupport1.austin.hp.com/bc/docs/support/SupportManual/c01530942/c01530942.pdf) lists only up to T9600 supported. Looking at the specs, most likely that T9900 would also work or it was left out for a reason. Hard to say.

Quadcores generate much more heat, laptop that small cannot reliably handle it. If laptop doesn't overheat right at the start, something will probably burn inside...

Have you optimized your system for SSD use? A quick google search shows that it's not uncommon to hit 100% CPU use during disc operations. Unfortunately I don't have any good links at the moment, I'm not a SSD user yet :) I'm just thinking that the issue may not go away with stronger CPU, especially since your T9400 isn't any Celeron...

    KLF,
I see, maybe more efficient cooler will solve that problem with overheat?

Yes, I have done some optimizations to Win7x64 for SSD (disabling prefetch, superfetch, pagefile - I have 4GB RAM and going to buy 8GB for creating virtual disk in RAM for some caches and temp's).
System looks very fast comparing to based on Seagate Momentus 7200.2 160GB.

I think those load of processor (I see it only while system load or launching huge applications) is caused by my antivirus software.

P.S. Does anyone have disassemble instructions for 6930p?
