Yep, installed it over stock drivers.

During the driver installation, the screen blinked, and went to a black screen after a while. This happened to me before when updating graphics driver on my Envy 14. It is as if the installation is still ongoing, only that there is no display. So I waited like 10min (just to make sure the installation is completed, since I can't see it), then I pressed the power button until my Envy 13 shut down. Restarted and checked, I am running 11.9, everything working fine, switchable graphics, CCC and all. :)

Oh, yeah, that makes sense (no sarcasm implied).
There's something bothering me though.... I've read that the touchpad can be a tad "temperamental" but, frankly, it's been a wonderful experience for me. It does act a little wacky when I try to use the quick touch functions, but besides that, it's behaving perfectly. I also read there was an update/tweak for the touchpad. Does it actually make a difference? Maybe I think it's a good touchpad because I've only used crappy ones? haha

    Edit.

Also, I was wondering how to undervolt the cpu without the laptop loosing any speed but well, being cooler and more energy-efficient.

    Edit 2.
About the touchpad, I could configure the quick touch options fine but now either I'm too retarded to find them or they dissapeared. Any clues?

Hey, so there's no undervolting through the bios? I'mma try that along with isntalling the updated graphics drivers this weekend.

Also, the laptop is hitting around 50°C ... all day usage and watching videos. Normal or not?

Same here. I found the touchpad okay. I am using an Acer laptop for work and oh boy its touchpad stinks, scrolling down is a pain either by two finger or by using the dedicated scroll area on the side.

There in no point using RMClock for undervolting, just use ThrotteStop and lock your CPU to the max multiplier and lowest voltage.

Penryn CPU's automatically downclock themselves using the different C States so the only important settings are max multiplier and voltage.

    Clearly.... (?)

Anyhow, left control key isn't working? I try to control+t on Google Chrome and it doesn't work, well it does, but rather sporadically...

    Any ideas?

    Edit-

Strangely enough, ctrl+r works for refresh---

    It's pretty easy really:

    Download Throttlestop: Downloads | Tech|Inferno

Tick Set Multiplier and set it to highest value.

Set the VID to the lowest possible stable voltage.

    Done.

So I was wondering, if I ever decided to format the computer and I installed the ati drivers with 11.x catalyst from some other place in this forum, would it work?

I want to replace the hard drive of my HP Envy13 by a SSD one (160Go).

Does any 1.8" SSD fits? For example this one built by lenovo, is it ok ?

When you reinstall your OS it'll use standard drivers. You can either do a clean install or clone your current HDD onto your new one.

If you're looking to do a clean install I can point you in the right direction.

I'd recommend a clean install. It's always nice to start anew.

    Hi there.

    I'm a proud owner of a Envy 13.

I'm thinking of upgrading my laptop with an SSD.
I have read that the connector is a normal SATA, but I also read that mSATA is compatible with this connection.

Just asking because I have found a mSATA 256GB SSD from Crucial that I'm interested in, performance wise, and price wise.

Can someone give me some advice?

    Thanks a lot,
    FreiheitPT
