    Hello,

I was looking on Amazon at some laptops and was impressed by the specs of the HP 14-1210NR and the build quality got top notch reviews, but I saw something very alarming: Amazon says the laptop weighs an unbelievable 11 pounds.

Can anyone confirm or deny this? A little on the heavy side doesn't bother me, but that sounds outrageous.

Yeah, I dont know why amazon only list the shipping weight. The laptop with the battery in should weigh in ~5.5lb which is average for the 14" form factor.

    That's what I figured until...

    Shipping Weight: 11.6 pounds
    Product Dimensions- 17 x 6.4 x 13 inches ; 11 pounds

That fact that they differentiated and that the shipping weight was slightly more concerned me.

Thanks guys. This definitely looks like a buy for me.

    THis is the Amazon link:

Amazon.com: HP ENVY 14-1210NR 14.5-Inch Notebook PC (Silver): Computer & Accessories

It clearly says in the Product Description section down the page that it weighs 5.57 pounds.

I came across this topic because I'm considering getting an Envy 14 and remembered that it weighed 5.25 pounds when it first came out. The HP Direct website even still has "5.25lbs" written on the thumbnail pic, though the Specs section says 5.6lbs.

What changed? The standard battery seems to be 8-cell now. Maybe when it launched it was 6-cell.

The Beats edition is 5.61, the regular envy is 5.57 the difference being the weight of the rubber coating.

As for the weight, open up the laptop and you will understand the reason. This bad body has a super sturdy metal chassis, you could beat a car to death with the chassis. This is very similar to some of the solutions lenovo employs, the plastic/metal outside might get dinged or dented, but you'll never have to get rid of the laptop because of structural damage. (which my wife has had to do several times when her laptops cracked throughout the chassic).
