Hey guys! So this is my first ever day with my new Envy 14, and I was wondering -should I watch 720p movies on it, or 1080p?

With 1080p I get 180 extra vertical pixels on the screen (to fill up the 900p screen) but only if I crop the movie to eliminate black bars.

So is it worth it? What do you - Envy 14 veterens, do?

Whatever quality you put on it it will look good.

Sure, both will 'look good'. I mean is it worth getting a movie twice as big on a non-1080p 14" screen? Or is using all 900p pixels worth it, compared to playing a 720p movie?

Just go with 720P and save yourself the memory on your machine. The movies look crisp and clean, and after all it is only a 14.5" display...

I've watched using both, but just end up with 720p. No difference on my 14.5," and even while sitting bout 10 feet away from my 60," I don't notice a big difference.

Maybe i'm imaging it but i swear when watching "The Raven" trailer in 720 and 1080 there was some difference in quality. Not a drastic difference but noticeable. Am i just imaging this?

Well I'm having my movies cropped up to fill the entire 14.5" 16:9 screen.... but I find that the 720 horizontal pixels are stretched over 900 pixels... But then again it's not worth the space 1080p movies occupy.

well trailers are compressed pretty heavily if you're streaming.

so yeah you may see a difference then
